Plenty of restaurants, coffee houses, a place in Los Angeles where people actually walk! For the best pizza in town go to Village pizzeria, also a farmers market on Sundays 8am-2pm.
Lots of shopping. For a great sandwich, at a reasonable price, go to the Larchmont wine and cheese shop! Stay away from "The Bungalow" it is a tourist trap.

Parks & Nature
Griffith Park is famous for being used as a filming location for Westerns in the 40's and 50's. It is a beautiful park with multiple hiking trails easily accessed. There are even a couple of mountain lions who live there!
The views from the trails are amazing, some days you can see all the way to the ocean.Sunrises and sunsets are great, get up close and personal with the Hollywood sign. Best times to hike are early morning and late afternoon as much of the trails are in full sun.
The hikes range from easy to moderately strenuous.
You can Golf there and there are tennis courts free to the public at certain times. There is also the Los Angeles zoo in the park.
