If your looking for mexican food this is a great place. It is all outdoor seating in downtown Christiansted. They offer great deal on Thursdays called Taco Thursday which is 2 tacos for $3.00. They also offer tasty frozen margaritas!

Don't let this casual ocean side cafe look fool you. This restaurant is upscale with delicious menu options everytime. Our family loves going to Duggins for special occasions. You will need a reservation. They have great food, and service.

City/town information
Downtown Christiansted is a great place to do a little shopping for gifts and things. It also has a nice boardwalk, restaurants, Fort Christianvargn, and ocean view. You can even feed the Tarpon fish that will come up to you along the waters edge.

If you are looking for some beautiful beaches, then Frederiksted is the place to be. They have a pier that you can walk out on and see some amazing views, and their beaches and pier are great for snorkeling. Restaurants are limited in the evening, but have some great lunch options.

Sightseeing
Our family went on this tour with Steve a few months ago. I will say it was a fun experience. I grew up riding horses but hadnt done it in years. Steve was great at helping when we needed it, and my 9 year old daughter loved it. She had a blast riding the horse in the ocean. These horses werent your usual trail horses, they all had their own personality and were not just the normal boring horse following the horse in front of them like I have seen with so many other stateside trail groups. This was a fun and even educational experience.

rent a jeep if you want to see all the island has to offer.
If you want to see all over the island such as the rain forest, light house, the baths, you will need a jeep. Our roads are loaded with pot holes and cars just dont get around in these places. However, if you just plan on going to the beaches, and staying more in town you are fine to rent a car.

swim wear
While St Croix is a very laid back island. One thing I found interesting when we first moved here was their swim wear etiquette. While swim wear is acceptable on the beach of course, it is not acceptable in shops and restaurants. Even when the stores are on or near the beach. So if you plan on doing both, make sure you take something to throw on over your swimsuit before going into the stores.

rash guards and water shoes
When we first moved to island it didnt matter how much sunscreen I used, I would still burn. Then I discovered that most people here use a rash guard, which is a long sleeved thin shirt to protect you from the sun rays. They have been life changing for our family. Also while we have wonderful powdery beaches, we also have a lot of rocks, coral, and even sea urchins. I strongly recommend water shoes anytime you are at the beach.

Good Morning, Good Afternoon, Good Night!
It is customary here on island to always start a conversation with one of these statements depending on what time of day it is. In the states most start off with Hello, but here on island that is replaced by Good Morning, Good Afternoon, or Good Night (some also say Good Evening). Definitely take time to start any conversation with these. The locals appreciate it when you do this.

car rental
You will need a car or jeep rental. Don't wait till your arrival to book. You should book a rental when you book your rental. Taxi and bus on island are very unreliable if they are even available and they are expensive. Stay away from Ace car rental. I have had 2 different guests that upon arrival, they canceled their rental. I highly recommend Centerline Car Rental and Judy of St. Croix.
