King Ludwig II, who had the fairy tale castle Neuschwanstein built, was born here. Tram 12 from Leonrodplatz to Romanplatz and 10 min walk or 30-minute walk from my apartment along the Canal. Take a walk through the beautiful park with the Great Lake and the Monopteros and take a coffee break at the Schlosscafe im Palmenhaus (keep to the right after entering the park, 3- minute walk from the main entrance). The combination ticket "Nymphenburg" (11.50 Euros) allows you to visit the main palace, the small summer palaces Amalienburg, Badenburg and Pagodenburg inside the park, the museum of royal carriages and sleighs and the Nymphenburg Porcelain Museum.

Opening hours are Mo - Sun 9 am - 12 am, the entrance fee of 7.00 Euros includes the visit of the Rock Museum Munich (same opening hours). Below the viewing platform you will find the revolving restaurant "181" (at 181 meters), completing one turn in 53 minutes. Enjoy the 360-degree view together with exquisite but expensive food. For low budget: The view from the top of our little Olympic Hill (56 meters) is as breathtaking as from the Tower. The little beer garden on the edge of the big meadow just below the hill offers authentic Bavarian food and good beer.

It is Munich's largest recreational area with a network of 78 km of paths for bikers, joggers and horse riders. You can even see the Munich police on horseback patrolling the park. It was created in the late 18th century by the American-born British physicist, inventor, and designer Sir Benjamin Thompson. In 1785, Sir Thompson entered the government services in Bavaria reorganizing the army and establishing workhouses for the poor on behalf of the Elector Carl Theodor. Visit the beer garden by the Chinese Tower or the upscale restaurant and beer garden Seehaus at the Kleinhesseloher Lake with rowing boats. Enjoy a beautiful vista of the city from Monopteros or a tea ceremony in the Japanese teahouse on the southern end of the park on an artificial island in the Schwabinger Stream.
