The idea of the sherpa museum is to record the trace of the largest possible number of still active, but also retired legendary carriers in the Tatra valleys, to describe their activities, perhaps their fate. Many of them are no longer with us and are dragging their loads along the heavenly paths. The private museum is run by Štefan Bačkor, who himself carried loads to alpine chalets for 18 years. The museum also includes a unique Sherpa Café with a children’s corner.

The Ski Museum exhibition in Tatranská Lomnica deals with the history of the origin and development of winter sports in the High Tatras from their very beginning until 1945. Visitors to the museum learn a lot of interesting information about the beginnings of skiing, skating, curling, climbing, sledding, or bobsledding in the High Tatras. Each thematic area is accompanied by exhibits, which together with the text part will provide visitors with a perfect picture of what it once looked like in the High Tatras.

Ski Museum
The Ski Museum exhibition in Tatranská Lomnica deals with the history of the origin and development of winter sports in the High Tatras from their very beginning until 1945. Visitors to the museum learn a lot of interesting information about the beginnings of skiing, skating, curling, climbing, sledding, or bobsledding in the High Tatras. Each thematic area is accompanied by exhibits, which together with the text part will provide visitors with a perfect picture of what it once looked like in the High Tatras.

Golf is more than 100-year-old tradition in High Tatras. According to historical press, the aristocracy of the Upper Hungary played the first tournament in the nearby Tatranská Lomnica in 1906. High Tatras have been already at that time a much sought-after place not only for climatic treatment, but also for entertainment and relaxation resources. It is said that a black stork used to come from nearby swamps to watch golf players... There are still many storks around and therefore the new resort was named the "Black Stork".
