Food scene
This is another favourite, summer or winter. You can take a 3km walk from the parking, pick up the road from Encamp, make a left at the roundabout by the Encamp cable car or you can drive directly to the lake by travelling towards Andorra La Vella and drive up from there. There is a superb local, unpretentious restaurant called Llac Y Cel (lake and sky) at the end of the 3km walk and beside the lake, drivers on arrival at the lakeside should continue along the right hand side lane to reach the restaurant parking. Food and service is excellent, as is the price and if the weather is good you can sit outside to eat.

In winter and summer the restaurant is a must visit. Wonderful winter views with a frozen lake and in summer a lovely spot to hike to, from Grau Roig carpark . The restaurant has a fast food section for outdoors and a beautiful indoor intimate restaurant with mountain food of the best quality and friendly staff. There is also a champagne/oyster terrace overlooking the lake for those special occasions. Highly recommended.

Neighbourhoods
This is a bigger village than Soldeu and has a wonderful ice skating rink and olympic sized swimming pool. It takes about 15 minutes on the local bus from Soldeu. Perfect for a change of scene for children (and adults!)

You can travel down to the capital of Andorra, Andorra La Vella, by local bus, takes about 40 minutes and cost is roughly €3.50. It's a world away from the ski slopes, you can find everything from clothes shops, restaurants, ski shops and larger supermarkets.
