There are two wonderful beaches accessed via Low Steads Farm in Longhoughton (pay for access at the gate’s honesty box). Sugar Sands and Howdiemont beaches aren’t as quiet as they used to be during the summer months but are well worth a visit. The coastal path walk skirts the edge of the beaches so you can easily explore to the north or south.

The traditional pub and restaurant is full of character. The pub itself dates back to 1841 and as the name suggests use to house the local blacksmiths, many of the features still remain inside.
The menu includes as many locally sourced ingredients and produce as seasonally possible.
Dogs allowed in the bar area as well as the beer garden.
