The 13 kilometre Tracker Riley Cycleway is named after Dubbo's famous Alec 'Tracker' Riley, the first Aboriginal tracker to reach the rank of Sergeant. The circuit extends between the central business district and historic Dundullimal Homestead via the Taronga Western Plains Zoo. The cycleway is the perfect way to experience the natural beauty of the Macquarie River foreshore. No bike? No problem! Call the Dubbo Visitor Information Centre for bike hire options. If you go very early in the morning to one of the platforms there is an opportunity to spot platypus in the river however these little guys are very shy.

As Bede Aldridge walks around his workshop, his beaming smile hints at the delight he feels at having turned a childhood passion for horses, riding and leatherwork into a thriving saddlery business called Saddler and Co, based in the regional NSW city of Dubbo. While 32-year-old Bede's leather skills were obtained after many hours tinkering in the shed, and under the tutorage of some of the state's best craftsmen, it doesn't take long to realise there are two people behind the success of the business. Bede's wife Jemima, 31, has an aptitude for promoting the business, devising new product lines and driving the opening of a retail outlet, highlighting the value of true teamwork. And in recent years, the team has expanded to include the couple's five sons, Caleb, eleven, Amos, nine, Reuben, seven, Hugh, six, and Albert, three.

On the 1st and 3rd Saturday of every month - rain, hail or shine locals and visitors alike gather together to enjoy and appreciate the feast of fresher, tastier produce from your local producers. The Dubbo Farmers Market was the first established in the New South Wales Central Region, and has grown into a bi-monthly market attracting over 2000 people per market who travel from around the corner, to a few hundred kilometres to get their fresh produce from some of the 60 stallholders who offer a surprisingly diverse range of products. People come to the markets, a regular Dubbo event, as much for the joy of fresh, locally grown produce as they do for the social village atmosphere it exudes. You can catch up with your family, old friends and discover new friends whilst you sample some of the region's finest produce. The Market is run by Macquarie Valley Food & Wine Inc., a volunteer, not-for-profit, incorporated organisation, with a focus on promoting the quality and value of the region's produce.

My favourite place for a coffee or breakfast each morning is Press in Bultje Street. Press is a progressive Café & Event Space located in a quaint 1930's house in Central Dubbo, NSW. The name is derived from its location in the former office of the Land Newspaper. Press opened it's doors in July 2015 & has slowly progressed into the beautiful space it is today. There is friendly service & fresh homemade food accompanied by their own roasted coffee in a cosy setting that all can enjoy.
