Lovely Winchester walk up the Hill and through woodland and along River Itchen . The view from the top is over Winchester from one side and Twyford Down the other. Fantastic panorama. Great for a picnic. You can go up and come down two different ways, either from the small car park on Garnier Road (if full use the East Park and Ride car park), or using the steps from further down the Itchen Navigation.
The top of the Hill is ringed by the ramparts of an Iron Age hill fort. In the centre a copse of beech trees contains the site of the 12th-century chapel of St. Catherine. There is also a mizmaze, probably cut between 1647 and 1710.
