Coastal Hikes/Walks/Picnics/Beaches/Bikes

Beautiful place for a coastal walk/hike. If you go in the morning before 10am you will avoid the park entrance fee (when applicable). Walk-In passes are available in AirBnB and you can park outside of gate along the road. TIP: walk through gate and head down the road, take first left, go to end of road and take another left, a little ways down and you will walk into the ocean. Follow coastal path all the way to the end (you can walk down the pier) and then follow the road back to the entrance gate.

The perfect spot for a picnic. Located across the street from the York Harbor Inn. Beautiful landscape and soft grass to relax and enjoy beautiful ocean views! We have provided a picnic basket and chairs for you to take with you. We will often grab a bottle of wine and pick up food at Anthony's food shop on route 1 in York. TIP: If you head down the path you can take a left to hike the CLIFF WALK along the ocean. See "CLIFF WALK/FISHERMAN'S WALK for more information. Also, path to access York Harbor Beach below.

The Marginal Way in Ogunquit is a beautiful cliff walk. There's parking in Perkins Cove. We often like to do the hike and then peek in some of the shops in the cove. TIP: Ogunquit from Kittery Point is about a 20-30min drive. We usually take the coast up at least one way

Right in York Maine, Mount Agamenticus is a hidden jewel with some wonderful hikes a beautiful views. Below is a link to the trail map and we actually just discovered these trails ourselves just recently. The most popular hike is the First Hill, but we encourage you to explore the Second and Third Hill. Just be sure to plan your time, take a map and have a back up flashlight with you if you venture and it gets dark out. We wouldn't want you to get lost in the woods as we almost did (there is a flashlight in the kitchen drawer of the AirBnB). Here's a link to the trail map: http://agamenticus.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/MT.A-MAP.pdf and they usually have plenty available on site.

The most beautiful beach! Sit on the ocean side and enjoy the waves, sit on the river side and dive in on high tide or float down (or up) the river depending on the tide. Explore the shops downtown and in Perkins Cove and take a beautiful walk along the marginal way. TIP: pick up a picnic lunch at Anthony's Food Shop on route 1 in York on your way to the beach. Picnic basket/cooler in closet of AirBnB.

One of our favorite local hikes/walks. You can park behind the "George Marshall Store Gallery" right down the street from Off the Boat Lobsters. Walk out of the parking lot and take a RIGHT, bare right down the dirt road and continue along the path and over the Wiggly Bridge. Then continue on the FISHERMAN'S WALK which will lead you out to the Cliff House and Harbor Beach. On the other side of the beach you can continue your hike on the CLIFF WALK. TIP: Best in the morning or late afternoon light and especially HIGH TIDE!

Traveling 1B from Portsmouth to New Castle toward the Wentworth Hotel is a beautiful drive, walk, run or bike. Be sure to pull into Great Island Common (free if you're on bikes) which has beautiful views and great spot for a picnic. Walk/Run: you may want to park around Prescott Park and then head out on 1B towards New Castle. You will pass over two bridges with water on both sides ... beautiful. Bike: this is a 20m round trip bike from the AirBnB. Head right out of Goose Point, right on Crocket Neck Road then right on 103 towards the memorial bridge. Head to Prescott Park and then to 1B towards New Castle. After the second bridge, take a left on Oliver street which loops you out to the water. On the way back (its a one way) go straight towards Portsmouth Head Lighthouse and head back on the coastal roads. TIP: to shorten your bike (and also avoid rt. 103) park on Badgers Island Road right before Memorial Bridge into Portsmouth.

We just recently discovered this hidden gem just north of Portland. A breathtaking hike around Casco Bay with benches and picnic tables along the way. The parking is limited and not sure how busy it gets in the summer, but worth checking out if you head up to Portland.

Ogunquit is a must visit when in the area. Browse the shops downtown and in Perkins Cove, stroll the Marginal Way and many great dining options. Ogunquit also has one of the most beautiful beaches ... our favorite. There is a river side where you can take a float as the tide comes in and out.
