Dear's Leap is a great hike in spring & fall. In summertime it gets very hot, so wear light layers. It is also VERY rocky & very steep at certain points. You will have to climb over boulders. I only recommend this trail to intermediate hikers/those in shape. There are sections that are also quite muddy (even in the fall & summer,) so wear sturdy shoes. The view at the top is outstanding. At a normal pace it is about an 1 hr to the peak and 45 minutes back down. I recommend bringing sandwiches/a snack to enjoy once you make it to the peak. The Long Trail Pub at the base of the mountain is a great spot for a beer afterwards. This dog and kid friendly moderate 1.9 mile trail is known for offering a variety of wildflowers along the way to a spectacular mountain vista at the top.
