One of the most iconic mountains in the UK, and certainly in Wales, whichever route you choose to go up, you’ll need to use your hands! Even the easiest route from Bwlch Tryfan is classed as a grade 1- scramble and it is therefore only recommended for experienced hikers who are looking for a challenge! The summit boasts two obelisks known as Adam and Eve, with the ‘freedom of Tryfan’ offered to those leaping from one to the other!

Want to escape from the crowds? Snowdon may be the most popular mountain but the Glyderau on the opposite side of the valley are the most iconic with two of the most famous landmarks in Snowdonia. The vertical frost-shattered spires of Castell y Gwynt (Castle in the Wind) provide one of the best photographic viewpoints in Snowdonia while the Cantilever stone offers one of the most entertaining photo opportunities around. Nobody has yet managed to topple it, despite the best efforts of generations of hill walkers!

Food scene

No need to cook… you’re on holiday! After a full day enjoying the best that North Wales has to offer, treat yourself to a tasty meal from my favourite local takeaway. Just 7-8 minute walk (or a 2 minute drive) from the cottage, Sitar is located on the High Street in Bethesda and offers a delicious selection of great value Indian food.
