Mountain town

San Vito is a mountain town approximately 2 hrs drive from Zancudo. It was founded by 170 Italians approximately 75 yrs ago. It’s a typical Costa Rican town with an Italian flavor. The drive to the area is stunning. A nice place for an overnight is Cascada de Bosco outside of town. It has 4 beautiful private cabins that have decks overlooking the jungle canopy and distant mountain views . It has a nice open air restaurant and bar. High season price will be around $75.
Incredible mountain drive zig zagging 3200 ft above sea level with incredible views. Typical Costa Rican small town with an Italian vibe. The mountain air is a good respite from the hot tropical air of the beach

Best Nature Reserve

Osa Peninsula, which we can see across the gulf is known as the premier nature reserve in the country and it is world renowned It is home to the last known Pumas in Costa Rica. We recommend hiking in to the ranger station deep in the reserve and staying overnight. It’s your best chance at some of the rarest wildlife.

250 Ticos make this 6 mile long peninsula that sticks into the lower part of the Gulf of Golfito home. As well, 50 gringos from all over the globe (but primarily US and Canada) call this home permanently and perhaps another 150 winter here. Due to its remote location, it receives only the most adventurous tourists.

#2 Most Visited Site in Costa Rica

Known as the most accessible and popular nature reserve in the country
If you want to see easily accessible wildlife without significant effort, this is your place. A short walk through the park, especially with a guide, will allow you to see sloths, monkeys ...etc without much effort. There is a nice jungle walk to a very nice beach with tons of monkeys. The area has upscale resorts in the hills as well as cheaper options closer to town and the beaches. It’s approximately a 2.5 hr drive
