The botanical gardens offers a great place for relaxation! It has a little bit of hiking and a lot of nature. It is a great spot for families, kids, and even a solo traveler looking for some peaceful one-on-one time with nature!

A relatively easy hike that ends with a beautiful waterfall! It can get a bit chilly by the water so take a light jacket. There might be some steep spots so only go if you’re physically able.

Westlake is a very beautiful city, the city takes a lot of pride in their neighborhood. You’ll notice there aren’t many billboard signs or liquor stores on every corner. It is known to be a wealthy area that many celebrities frequent and live in! There is a lot going on including hiking, entertainment, seminars, dining, shopping, etc. There are many parks and open spaces, especially perfect for those who like to be outdoors. The city is called Thousand Oaks because there are many oak trees all around and they are protected by the government; the trees add a sense of tranquility and peace to the area.

Malibu is a very famous place in California. It is absolutely beautiful and you can often see dolphins jumping out of the water as they pass by. A little tip: traffic gets very congested in this area, especially in the afternoon (be prepared to sit in the car for some time but enjoy the views as you do). There are many spots to stop along the main road and get a few great pictures for your social media accounts!

I recommend googling this city, I can almost guarantee you’ll find something just for you in Oxnard!

Oxnard, California is an amazing place. There are many things to do and see. There are a lot of farmers in the area and you can often stop by while driving down the road and buy some local fruits that are absolutely fresh and delicious (they are famous for their strawberries or as my family calls them “nard-berries”). The beaches in Oxnard are usually crowd free, especially compared to Zuma beach, Malibu Beach, and Santa Monica Beach. There’s lots of festivals, dining, museums, sightseeing that you could probably spend a few days here. I could go on and on because it is so diverse but I’m restricted on how many characters I could type. I recommend googling this city, I can almost guarantee you’ll find something just for you in Oxnard!
Sightseeing
The Ventura Pier offers a great sunset on the beach. You can either go down to the sand or stay on the pier. There are restaurants, bathrooms, paid parking, and a place to rent bicycles. I love to come here with my family and spend a few hours relaxing by the water. My wife and I will sometimes grab a beer at MadeWest Brewing Company located at the beginning of the pier and my children love playing in the playground on the sand.

Use your own car if possible
As is usually the case in Southern California, the best way to get around is to have your own vehicle. If you don’t have your own car the next best way to get around would be ride-sharing like Uber or Lyft.

Parking at the Beach
There are many beaches in the area and each beach will usually have its own parking lot. You will be required to pay if you enter the beach parking. If you continue to drive past the parking you will often find spots along the street that are free. The best time to find empty spots is to arrive in the morning around 10 am. If you go to the beach a bit later possibly around 1pm is when a lot of the early crowd begins to leave and you could find a spot to park for free. ALWAYS read the street signs because there are limitations depending on where you are.
