If you like a little music on the weekends this place does not disappoint. The locals enjoy the chefs at this restaurant and there are views of Lake Charlevoix. (Outdoor seating is available.) They have been written up in magazine for a good reason. They have wonderful food!

The outdoor seating is so pleasurable here! You can watch the yachts come in while you eat and possibly catch a million dollar sunset.

This is a diamond in the rough for some guests. It can be a hiking area, fun place for kids with hay rides and animals, and a scenic place for adults with vineyards, views of Lake MI, and drinks on tap. (My kids and I have gone here at different seasons. They even have super hot chocolate!) It may look like a let down when you park but the building needs to be explored as well as the area behind the main buildings.

It can be a hiking area, fun place for kids with hay rides and animals, and a scenic place for adults with vineyards, views of Lake MI, and drinks on tap. (My kids and I have gone here at different seasons. They even have super hot chocolate!) It may look like a let down when you park but the building needs to be explored as well as the area behind the main buildings.
I had some fantastic whitefish here and I usually don't like fish. :0) There is some outside seating, causal dinning and elegant dinning.

They use to have maple syrup, & ice cream. Now they have sweet wines too. I hear they are fabulous but have just bought their syrup at the farmers market. Sweet people that I have known for years though. (Maybe I'll see you there. I've been told by others that need to get out to see this place.)

2020 is when I discovered this fun place to eat lunch outside. There are five different food trucks here that people rave about. I enjoy greek food and you can't miss if you order from Mim's Mediterranean.

Walloon Lake Village is a lovely walking and hiking ground! I think it's okay for me to tell you this. Shhhh! There is a trail less traveled a couple blocks from you that you may walk. On N. Shore Dr. which is about a block from us there are two or three entry ways (they look like vacant lots and you may find a bench on the lot). This is where you can get on to a trail that goes through all the yards that face the lake. It's so nice to see these lovely old cottages close up and to see vistas of the lake.
Don't miss the little stores and in the park there is a beautiful stream to look for fish. I believe my boys have caught a few there at different times.

Okay this is personal! We enjoy polish food! They have had outdoor seating at times and may have it in the summer. If you plan to travel to Harbor Springs it's on your way and delicious. They may have take out too. They have won some awards and they meet to please!

Charlevoix is 35 min. from our apt. but maybe a destination you find well worth it!

Some guests will like this town more than any around. The views are glorious! The shopping is nice, the public beach has a life guard which could be helpful, and if you like looking at beautiful homes from a century ago follow the shoreline back toward Petoskey when you are leaving town.

An enjoyable little town with bars and a coffee shop.
Teens esp. like this place! You can walk out on it with ease and see the beautiful sunsets or jump off it to cool off. Of course it's at your own risk but my kids enjoy the fun of the cool water.

The Hill Nature Preserve
Charlevoix StreetWonderful trails! This place comes highly recommended if you like to hike.
When I first found the sand dunes here I was shocked. They are a treasure that many locals do not know about. I had lived here 15 years before I came upon them.

The Wednesday & Saturday Farmer's Market in Boyne City
This is a favorite for many and you will find it at the Veteran's Park near the water. (Some locals drive an hour to go to this market.) It's open from 9-1 PM.

Bring a beach towel and possibly a bucket
The Petoskey State Park is beautiful and known for Petoskey stones that you can search for and take home as a keepsake. If you would like to take them home without going into the park there is a parking lot behind the grocery store D&W in Petoskey. Locals park there to walk down to the water to look for rocks or to jump on the bike trail.

Avalanche Mountain in Boyne City for hiking, & mt. biking
This is a great place to take in a spectacular view, hike trails, free ice skating with a warming hut (in the winter) or if you like mountain biking its a dream!

Want to find flat bike trails?
1) The Bayfront Park in Petoskey is hard to miss as the marina is there as well as the large break wall that people walk out on. You could start riding anywhere along there and go (right) away from where the water opens up. There is a bike trail that goes all the way to Petoskey State Park if you want to go that far. 2) If you go to Dam Rd., Boyne City after you pass over the bridge there is a parking area going toward Boyne (if you stick to the right). It parallels the Boyne River.
