Family style Italian restaurant with a big reputation for delicious cuisine. You may have to stand in line up the narrow staircase waiting your turn for dinner in the very casual and relaxed restaurant. Great to pair with a night out listening to frenchman street live music as it is located above the dive ..est blues bar in town - 'the apple barrel'

The Royal Sonesta Hotel is a respite from the Bourbon St madness that surrounds it. Once inside the hotel there is a club to your right where you can comfortably sit in a luxe atmosphere and hear truly talented New Orleans musicians. My absolute favourite is Sunday nights. From 8 till 11pm. free entrance but tip the band! Germain Dazzle. Extra ordinary. A real treat. One of the true legends of New Orleans jazz, Germaine Potter Bazzle has been under-recognized nationally and internationally through her entire career. On par with R&B queen Irma Thomas, her voice in jazz is as distinctive as any, with a sweet soul to match. Her exploits singing in the Seventh Ward are unmatched, but she has been known primarily as a teacher. Influenced by the greats like Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, and Billy Eckstein, she took on a repertoire of classic jazz, American popular songs, show tunes, and the music of Duke Ellington. Sounds of the church were never far behind, and she sang regularly on Sundays with the Saint Louis Catholic Choir. A graduate of Xavier University, Bazzle chose to stay at home, instructing mostly young girls in choir and music appreciation at Xavier Prep. Her limited discography has her included on the compilation New New Orleans Music: Vocal Jazz and her live document, Standing Ovation. In 2007 she was part of the faculty at the Louis Armstrong Jazz Camp, along with other Crescent City music icons, in particular Edward "Kidd" Jordan." ~ Michael G. Music starts late, Tuesday nights Rebirth Brass Band play. The world famous Maple Leaf Bar is a music performance venue and bar on Oak Street in the Carrolton neighborhood of Uptown New Orleans. Opened on Feb 24th 1974, it is one of the longest continuing operation of New Orleans’ music clubs with live performances seven nights a week. On that first night Andrew Hall’s Society Jazz Band played and were there every Saturday for 7 years. Many of the old time musicians were featured including numerous members of the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. The Society Jazz Band left in the summer of 1981 but have played there several times since including the 30th birthday party in 2004. Musical styles represented include blues, funk, R&B, rock, zydeco, jazz, jam bands and any combination thereof, and beyond, hosting both local performers and touring national acts. Currently home to 2018 Grammy Lifetime Achievement winner George Porter Jr. and his trio every Monday night, and the longtime Tuesday night home to the Grammy Award winning Rebirth Brass Band, frequent performers at the Maple Leaf have included local legends James Booker, the Rebirth Brass Band, Papa Grows Funk, Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown, Walter “Wolfman” Washington, “Money Mike” Armstrong, The Radiators and Henry Butler. Unannounced sit-ins are not uncommon; Bruce Springsteen once dropped in to jam with The Iguanas. Jon Cleary’s band was once joined by his frequent employer, Bonnie Raitt. The Leaf, as it is sometimes referred, has also been an important incubator for the city’s many up-and-coming bands formed from the ranks of local musicians and music students at Tulane University, Loyola University and the University of New Orleans.
