Double up your visit to Carra Castle with a pit stop at the gorgeous seaside village of Cushendun. The ruin of the castle is situated on private land, but a name plaque is present at the roadside and the ruin is visible from this point, too, although overgrown in ivy.

Although strictly not a castle, this Franciscan friary was established in 1485 by glens clansman, Rory MacQuillan. It is said that the first battle between the warring MacDonnell and MacQuillan clans was fought nearby. Limited parking, free to walk around.
