Heavenly is a quick 10-15 minute drive from the house to the Heavenly Village base. The resort features 30 lifts and 97 ski runs.
Overlooking the sapphire-blue waters of Lake Tahoe, Heavenly is one of the most unique year round outdoor recreation destinations on the planet. Summer The summer activities at Heavenly Mountain Resort are a must-do during your trip to Lake Tahoe. Start with a scenic ride up the gondola, then choose from one of many other adventures! Tour through the trees on a zip line tour, a thrilling ride on one of our zip lines, challenge yourself on one of three ropes course, cruise on a 4X4 tour, choose from over 12 climbing routes on our 30 foot climbing wall or slide down the hill on our summer tubing hill. There’s the perfect activity for every member of your group.
The 97 runs at Heavenly cover 3,500 vertical feet and break out as: 8% beginner, 62% intermediate, 25% advanced and 5% expert. The longest run is Olympic Downhill coming in at 5.5 miles.

Sierra at Tahoe is about a 30 minute drive from the house to the main lodge. The 46 runs at Sierra-at-Tahoe Ski Resort break out as follows: 25% beginner, 50% intermediate and 25% advanced. All these are serviced by 14 chairlifts, including 3 high-speed quads: Easy Rider, West Bowl Express and Grandview. With a top elevation of 8,852 feet, the resort offers 2,212 feet of vertical drop. The base elevation is 6,640 feet. The longest run at the resort is two and a half miles (Sugar ‘n Spice).

The 46 runs at Sierra-at-Tahoe Ski Resort break out as follows: 25% beginner, 50% intermediate and 25% advanced. All these are serviced by 14 chairlifts, including 3 high-speed quads: Easy Rider, West Bowl Express and Grandview. With a top elevation of 8,852 feet, the resort offers 2,212 feet of vertical drop. The base elevation is 6,640 feet. The longest run at the resort is two and a half miles (Sugar ‘n Spice).

In the summer months, Kirkwood is a destination for mountain biking and hiking. Well-known mountain biking trails such as Mr. Toad's Wild Ride are nearby. From approximately the first weekend in July to the first weekend in September chairs #1 and #2 are open for mountain biking along most front-side trails. A trials course sits near the base of chair #1. Bike rentals are available. 2 to 3 day advance reservations before renting are recommended, as a large group can rent all available bikes before the lifts open.
