Hua Hin's popularity began to increase in the 1920's as the railway line from Bangkok was constructed and King Rama VI built Klai Kangwon Palace as a summer retreat.
Hua Hin's station is one of the oldest in Thailand and its main feature is The Royal Waiting Room that used to welcome King and his court when they were visiting the town.

Huahin Artist Village

Known as Klaikangwon Palace, meaning "far from worries", this residence is only accessable by invitation and there is an exclusion zone around it that stretches out to sea. It was built in Spanish style architecture in 1929 and the gardens are beautifully manicured and full of art from Java.

It remains the centre of Hua Hin’s fishing trade, although to a much lesser extent than in the past. In the evening, locals often come here for a spot of recreational fishing. Located at the northern end of Naresdamri Road, which runs parallel to the beach, the fishing pier is a narrow strip of concrete platform jutting out into the ocean. It is an ideal place to watch sunrise. Silhouettes of the boats and their masts provide a nice contrast against the sky’s bright orange backdrop.
