Sightseeing

Here you will find locations of all the amazing attractions around Mostar.
Over the Neretva river in the city of Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, you will find the beautiful stone bridge Stari Most. Two fortified towers protect the bridge, located on the northeast side is the Halebija tower and the Tara tower on the southwest, called “the bridge keepers" (natively mostari). Mostar was named after the bridge keepers who guarded the Stari Most in the medieval times. The bridge was originally a wooden bridge but around 1557 Suleiman the Magnificent ordered constructions so the old bridge would be replaced with a stone bridge by the architectural work of Mimar Hayruddin. Stari Most is 13 ft (4 meters) wide, 100 ft (30 meters) long and the height around 82 (25 metres). More details: https://whc.unesco.org/en/list/946/ Google Maps: https://goo.gl/maps/9YUU5wtCsMfSeNfi6

This tower was built beside the Church of Saints Peter and Paul, which literally sat at on the front line separating the Muslims and Christians during the 1990s War. Wonderful education of the war, along with the best views of the Mostar. Enter at the bottom and take the elevator to the tower bells (3 Euros) and then walk the 150 or so steps to the top for the best view in the entire city. The historic site of Počitelj is located on the left bank of the river Neretva, and it is about 30 km. to the south of Mostar. The village is built in a natural karst amphitheater along the Neretva river. The walled town of Počitelj evolved in the period from the 16th to the 18th centuries. Architecturally, the stone-constructed parts of the town are a fortified complex, in which two stages of evolution are evident: medieval, and Ottoman. Since 1981, in a small village in Bosnia-Hercegovina named Medjugorje, the Blessed Virgin Mary has been appearing and giving messages to the world. She tells us that God has sent Her to our world, and these years She is spending with us are a time of Grace granted by God. In Her own words, She tells us, "I have come to tell the world that God exists. He is the fullness of life, and to enjoy this fullness and peace, you must return to God".
