Duke Island Park
Miles of great newly paved path next to river and rugged canal path. Big play place. Pond, pavilion and gazebo for picking.
Great for walks!!The path to the park along the river is magical just after dust in June and July when the fireflies are out. Good park to play, nice river views or if you are feeling adventurous perhaps a even a dip in the Raritan River if the time of year is right. There is a great little beach up by the dam. Park is close to home, being about a mile away on paved paved or more rugged/rooted canal path to pond. Good for jogging and biking as well; if you do the whole park loop from the house is just over 4 miles you can also make your jog even longer if your into distance and go all the way to the old dam.

Sightseeing
Duke Farm some of the largest privately held land in Jersey.
Has a great Environmental Education center and also is home to the largest Community Garden in the nation with over 5 acres of personal plots. Wonderful for walks both short and long. I highly recommend the orchid green houses which are beautiful and a must see if you are up for the walk out there from the main building, which was once large horse stable that now houses the cafe and EE center. Farmers market is there once a week almost 3 seasons out of the year. Year round good place to get local made food gifts or other items made with extra local TLC. It has got some history being the old estate of the Duke family the tobacco barons. Located just a few miles away from the house, makes for a very nice morning, afternoon or a leisurely day.
