You can reach Camogli by train in 20 minutes. From the marina, by boats, you can reach the inlet of San- Fruttuoso situated in the middle of the indented coastline of the Portofino Promontory. You can admire wonderful landscape and the famous Abbey of San Fruttuoso. Portofino Park. The park offers walks and breathtaking views. You can climb the mountain from Santa Margherita, Portofino and Camogli but the easiest access is from Ruta di Camogli and precisely from Portofino Vetta or from S. Rocco di Camogli, a nice village near Camogli. Walking by easy path, from the church, you can reach in less than an hour some war residuals. A legend tells that it was born in 1284, when Genoa defeated Pisa in the battle of Meloria. During a storm some barrels of oil and chickpea bags spilled over doing a mix with salt water. Sailors cooked this mix and discovered how good it was. “Frisceau”, name in Genoese dialect, are fritters served in restaurants as appetizer. Pasta dishes: “troffie al pesto” a fresh pasta with the famous basil sauce (in the supermarkets look for troffie and pesto produced by Novella, a pasta factory in Sori). “Pansoti” are a fresh pasta with walnut sauce. “Minestrone alla genovese” is a typical genoese vegetable soup. A lot of dishes are based on fish, for example “stoccafisso alla ligure” is the Ligurian stockfish. “Cappon magro” is an ancient traditional Ligurian dish based on fish and vegetables. “Cima alla Genovese” is a stuffed veal belly.
