They always have a top notch buffet going, but you can order off of the menu if you prefer. The naan is always hot and fresh.
When my daughter comes to town this is the one place that she insists upon visiting because "it's the best Indian food ever."

This place can be a little hit and miss with the food, but the setting is really nice and it's pretty much the first place you get to when you get back down to Auburn so that's nice.
If you can make it during happy hour they have decent cocktail and appetizer specials.

If you can make it during happy hour they have decent cocktail and appetizer specials.

The locals debate about whether the pies are better here or at Machado's. I can't decide myself.
This place is a little more commercialized, but they do have a lunch counter and you can also buy their pies by the slice here which is a nice feature.

If you just need the basics or to fill up on gas, this spot is just off the next exit up I-80.

This gas station is at the Applegate exit so the short drive is really convenient if you're running low.
The convenience store has the basics, but nothing special in that regard.

Auburn has several popular breweries. Knee Deep is known for its IPAs and it seems like it's always hopping here. They have different food trucks come in and there is indoor and outdoor seating.

Moonraker and Knee Deep are only a couple hundred yards apart in the area near the Auburn airport. Moonraker has a more laid-back vibe and is usually quieter than Knee Deep. Since they're so close it's worth checking out both of them.

The views in and around the Foresthill Bridge are amazing. If you have a few minutes it's really worth your time to take a look.

This is a great spot to go for a little hike, see some amazing scenery, and maybe take a little dip in the river.
Just a short drive away in Grass Valley, this is the site of an old gold mine. There is a museum, they have tours, or you can just walk the grounds if you like.

There are a lot of good rafting/kayaking opportunities in the region. Raft California is one of the largest and we'll respected companies around for providing a great experience.
Try a half day or full day on the American River with their location being only about 30 minutes from my place.

It can be pretty hot there in the summer so I recommend an early start or going in the Fall or Spring.

It can be pretty hot there in the summer so I recommend an early start or going in the Fall or Spring.
