Favorite places at lake Balaton

Here are my favorite places at Lake Balaton which I highly recommend you visit.
Tihany peninsula I highly recommend you visit the Tihany peninsula. You can go there with a car until „Szántód” (15 minutes) where leaves the ferry to Tihany. From the ferry you also have a wonderful view to the whole lake. The ferry takes 15 minutes. You can find the ferry schedule and fares here (from Szántódrév to Tihanyrév): https://en.balatonihajozas.hu/ferry_transportation Keep in mind that if you take the ferry with a car, then you have to pay both for a car and after every person. You can also visit the Benedictine Abbey Church there. The Tihany Abbey is a Benedictine monastery established at Tihany in the Kingdom of Hungary in 1055. Its patrons are the Virgin Mary and Saint Aignan of Orleans. The Benedictine monastery at Tihany was established in 1055 by King Andrew I of Hungary (r. 1046–1060). It was dedicated to the Holy Virgin and to Saint Bishop Aignan of Orleans. King Andrew was buried in the church of the monastery in 1060. His tomb in the crypt of the church is only grave of a medieval King of Hungary which has been preserved until now. The church's ceiling is decorated with frescoes by Károly Lotz, depicting Faith, Hope and Love. Tihany is also famous from it’s lavenders. You can buy a lot of useful souvenirs made of lavenders. I always have something from there, e.g. a small scented pillow to my cloakroom or something like that. You can find more information about the peninsula here: https://www.lonelyplanet.com/hungary/lake-balaton/tihany

Siófok water tower It has been renovated some years ago. You can enjoy a beautiful panorama there. There is a bar in it, so you can sit for a cafe and see the whole city through the window while the tower turns around. http://viztorony.com/en#0 http://hellosiofok.hu/helyszinek/latnivalo/713/the-water-tower/

National Conservation Park, Töreki The characteristic of this area is the great vairaty of the landscape, you can find lakes, marsh, meadow, grassplot and forest here. The diversity provides living-space for many valuable living creatures. A part of it is an area of 80-year-old Turkey oak and oak forest. In 1998 a 9 km-long path was built, which introduces the typical flora and fauna of the landscape with boards written in Hungarian, German, and Latin. http://hellosiofok.hu/helyszinek/latnivalo/482/nature-conservation-area-of-toereki/

Port Siofok It is worth to visit the port of Siófok. There is a rose garden on your way and you can find the big wheel nearby. http://hellosiofok.hu/helyszinek/latnivalo/1430/port-of-siofok/ http://hellosiofok.hu/helyszinek/latnivalo/710/rose-garden/

High Shore of Balatonvilagos This is my favorite place in the area of Siófok. It is around 5 km from the apartment. You can bike there or with a car. The view is very special. You can see the lake from a high point. You can take a walk there and there is a small pub at the railway station there which has been stylish renovated recently and has special beers. It doesn't seem too attractive but in the end it is worth it to try it. It is very moody. http://hellosiofok.hu/helyszinek/latnivalo/5034/balatonvilagosi-high-shore/
