South Bank is the south bank of the river in the city. This is a great place to start exploring Brisbane. You can try out the Wheel of Brisbane to see the city from up high and hear some history from the audio show.
There are great place for food and there are lovely parklands for just watching the world go by.
Also in this precint is the Performing Arts Centre where you can catch a show, the Queensland Museum (go see the whales!) and both the Queensland Art Gallery and the Gallery of Modern Art. GOMA is famous for the quality of the touring exhibitions that they stage.
All of these places are located along the Brisbane River and have views to the city.

Getting Around
Jump on google and have a look at the routes for the City Cat. The high speed catamarans have become iconic to Brisbane. You can go from Qld University all the way to the Gateway bridges (near the airport). The Brisbane river is a windy girl and it's quite and adventure to see her from the water. Tip! wear sunscreen if you want to be outside for the journey.

At the base of Mt Coot-tha, the Brisbane Botanical Gardens are close to us - just at the other end of the Western Freeway about 20 mins from here.
While in the area you can also see the Brisbane Planetarium and go to the lookout at the top of Mt Coot-tha

This park also hosts Park Run every Saturday morning at 7am. It's a hosted and timed 5km run from the park and along side the river. Great fun for serious and fun runners.

Long time favourite for our family. This caffe is consistently good and the service is always good and friendly. The coffee is fantastic.
