Abby and Rogan are at the helm of this special eating establishment in Ludlow VT. There are not a lot of restaurants in this state who get both food and service (sadly). At Downtown Grocery they do! Cocktails and amazing, Abby always makes you feel at home and creates a festive environment! It is 45 minutes away but worth the trip of you want a solid Vermont food experience.

Green Mountain Trails are a short drive from the house and offers lots of trails. You can access them from the Ahmee Farm Turn off on the left before you get to town or you can drive through town and take a left at road just past Riverside Farm and Drive and park at the back parking lot at Riverside Farm. You can see a map at www.gmtrails.org
Sherburne Trials is a limited trail system for beginner riders and kids. We love going there as a family and with friends with kids. It is on the left side of route 100 in Killington. It is well marked.

Drive down about 1.5 miles until you see the lake on the right and the parking area. You will see the access point across from aprking area. You can look at trailhead map at www.trailfinder.info/trails/trail/blueberry-lake-leonard-s-loop. This is a well marked and very reasonable and established trail system. Good for getting your feet wet and your legs ready for more challenging rides.

You can look at trailhead map at www.trailfinder.info/trails/trail/blueberry-lake-leonard-s-loop. This is a well marked and very reasonable and established trail system. Good for getting your feet wet and your legs ready for more challenging rides.
Are the two resources to use for understanding the local backcountry options.
For local mountain biking go to idigvt.com and click on Play and then Bike. The closest trails are the Contest and Ash Hill Trials and can be accessed at the top of Liberty Hill Road. Take a left out of the driveway at the bottom of the hill take a right up Liberty Hill about a mile and you will see where the maintained road ends. There is a parking area there and a National Forest sign. I like to drive up in my car to the parking, unload my bike and access the trails from there. The first climb is a grinder and you may want that but I like to save my energy for the forest and the single tracks. You can access the Contest Trail Down on your left about ¾ of a mile down.

SO much to do and see in the out of doors in Rochester. There are many more but here are some of our local jaunts!
The Long Trial runs the length of Vermont and many folks plan long adventures to do the trail. We have access to a really sweet piece of it
15 min drive up rt 73. Drive to the top of the Brandon Gap and park in the lot on the left hand side. Once you've parked cross the road to climb the Long Trail on the North side of the gap. Its a quick 35-45 hike straight up to a beautiful lookout over the valley. Falcons also nest and breed there so know that there are times that you can't access that lookout but you could stay on the same side of the highway and resource the long trail that way.

Warren Falls is an amazing spot for hanging out and jumping off of rocks. If you're headed there in the summer it gets busy. The earlier you get there the better. Take lunch and hang out!
