Started locally. This is the third one in the DC area. Check the website before you go. Theres often an open mic on Friday nights. Probably too far if you dont have a car, unless you have plenty of time to walk or take an Uber.

American, has bar, vegetarian friendly, gluten free options. It's 2.7 miles away in Hyattsville - head south, away from UMCP. Very local, brewery. Try the blonde bonmshell beer.

The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center and Philadelphia music venue Milky teamed up to open what they have been calling an "art house." It aims to be a place where arts can be enjoyed in a nontraditional space. In fall 2017, it will showcase a range of voices from national and international artists series and emerging talent from varous art schools of the university - jazz, global, contemporary, classical, spoken word, performance and film etc. It's open now, so you could stop by for a drink and a bite to eat, and you might be fortunate enough to catch one of the popup performance during the summer.
