Kahlpahlim Rock Trail, through Dinden National Park, takes you to Kahlpahlim Rock (also known as Lambs Head), the highest point on the Lamb Range at around 1,300 metres above sea level. This walk needs an early start and good fitness to manage the steep acent into the cloud forest. The walk is spectacular and passes through wet and dry forests with spectacular veiws. The track is a circuit which includes the "Kahphahlim rock trail" and the "ridge trail". You can do the circuit but i reccomend assending and returning along the "ridge trail" for a gentler acent and decent. Beaches closer to Cairns CBD are not great for swimming and to enjoy a day at the beach you will need to head to the "Cairns northern beaches". Palm Cove is lovely and there are plenty of restaurants, boutiques and cafes as well.

If you want an isolated beach this is your spot. There is no stinger net to offer protection from marine jelly fish so only suitable for swimming during the winter months between may and november when there are no jelly fish.

Park at the end of Stoney Creek road, walk across the bridge to the swimming holes and then look out for the small "Douglas track" sign on the right hand side after the bridge. You can walk for as long or as little as you like through the forest and then return for a swim in stoney creek. For the more serious hikers of good fittness you can acend to Glacier rock for a spectacular panoramic view of the coastal lowlands and surrounding ranges, about 3.5-5 hours return. This is the perfect place to see the Wet Tropics World heritage rain forest and has a beautiful river. There is a small fee ~$10 for the short bus ride from the car park. You can swim and there are beautiful walking tracks through the forest. Take a picnic to share by the river. Highly recommended!!!

This is the perfect place to see the Wet Tropics World heritage rain forest and has a beautiful river. There is a small fee ~$10 for the short bus ride from the car park. There is 5km of wide walkway and boardwalk along the waterfront that is lit at night ending near the Cairns CBD at the "lagoon" which is a big pool on the waterfront. There are huge grassed areas that are perfect for picinics and some covered seated areas with barbeques. Recommended for a stroll at dusk for some fresh sea breeze.
