Food and Drink

A friendly pub and restaurant, with local beers and very good pub food at reasonable prices. Great views over the beach; on a nice day sit outside and soak up the sun, on a stormy day sit indoors and watch the rollers come crashing in.

Also a pub, but well known in the area for its excellent food. A cosy bar area with a lovely big fireplace for those cold winter nights.

An independent brewery only a 5 minute drive from the cottage with a bar and restaurant and a lovely beer garden with great views of Rough Tor and out to sea. They serve a good selection of their own ales as well as some of the usual suspects along with above average bar food (their portobello mushroom and halloumi burger is delicious). They also have a small gift shop where you can buy their brews to take home with you.

Parks & Nature

At low tide this wonderful beach is revealed, great for walking your dog, surfing or just playing in the rock pools. From here you can head North or South along the cliff tops of the South West Coast Path, which is beautiful pretty much anywhere along its entire length around Cornwall, but is especially stunning and rugged from Port Quin (South) all the way to Crackington Haven (North).

The main attractions are the new bridge (do you dare to look down through the gap in the middle?) across to the castle ruins and the ghostly statue of King Arthur in the middle of the headland. It's quite expensive (currently £16 each - free for English Heritage members) but worth doing just once.

Great little fishing village, quintessential Cornwall by the sea. Famous for being where "Doc Martin" is filmed, it's a very pleasant place to spend a couple of hours. There is also a selection of places to eat, including two Nathan Outlaws restaurants.

Another very pleasant fishing village, worth an explore, with some interesting shops and places to eat. Take a wander up to the highpoint at the harbour entrance for some dramatic views.
