Food Scene
I think these folks have some of the best pizza around! It's a thick, almost sourdough-type crust, complemented by delicious toppings, of course. The owner is local and even provided pizza for a "boat flipping" we had at our barn once (if you've ever tried to flip a boat, it takes a lot of people, and a lot of pizza).

This is a sushi restaurant chain, but I personally think this is a cute one! Their sushi is yummy and affordable with a lot of different specials and quite a bit of diversity. Their vegetarian rolls are some of the best!

The Bread Board is a locally-owned bakery, cafe and restaurant with an incredible wood-fired oven. About 20 minutes from the Cottage at the Red Barn, their breads and baked goods are AMAZING and well worth the trip. Keep in mind that they have very limited days and hours, so check to see if they're open before you go!

This tiny little Chinese noodle shop is owned and run by an incredibly friendly local professor and couldn't be more delicious! They have great bubble tea and incredible noodles - especially if you like your food on the flavorful and spicy side. It's small though - just a little hole in the wall - so be prepared for a tight squeeze during lunch and dinner hours!

If you're a seafood lover, this is the place to go. Their seafood is fresh and local, but vegetarians and vegans don't worry - their tempeh tacos are also amazing, especially with a cool glass of strawberry lemonade. As an added bonus, the restaurant has a beautiful view with large glass windows that look out over the bay, harbor and a whole lot of sea lions. Stroll along the harbor after eating to get a closer look at the marine life and boats alike!

In my opinion, Caves has some of the best food in Corvallis and their menu often changes to serve what's local and in season. This European-style restaurant also boasts one of the biggest selections of beer in town (my personal favorite is called the Duchesse). While Caves can be a bit pricey, their happy hour menu is a great deal for fantastic food.

This little donut-oriented food truck is a good place to get a whole lot of sugar. I love the apple fritters (which are the actual size of my head), but they have plenty of interesting donuts to try and many are seasonally themed.

This is a beautiful, dog-friendly beach on the Oregon coast. Check the weather before you go, because it's often windy and chilly, but even then it's beautiful! Just about an hour from the Cottage on scenic roads, Nye Beach is a perfect place for a coastal stroll.

This beautiful but laid back winery is locally owned by an amazing woman, has a small pond, outdoor seating, and many local events that include wine tasting and music. It's dog-friendly and kid-friendly, and just a quick 5-minute drive from the Cottage at the Red Barn.

Technically, this isn't a brewery, but the farm where Rogue Brewery grows many of the ingredients for their beers and other beverages. They have a small, brew-pub kind of restaurant set amongst fields of hops and right on the Willamette River (you can literally kayak there). It's dog-friendly and kid-friendly, and you can grab a drink and a bite to eat and sit outside at picnic tables surrounded by fun outdoor games like cornhole.

Entertainment & Activities
If you have kids, or are fascinated by marine life like me, this is a great place to spend a day! Some of the exhibits are outside, so dress appropriately for the weather so you can watch the otters, seals and sea lions getting fed.
