Aro Valley has a great scene - students, creatives, a bit of a bohemian vibe, but at the same time older people feel totally at home there. This cafe has tons of outside tables, great service staff, good coffee and a really varied menu.

You can see 360 degree views of Wellington all the way from Strathmore/Miramar/Airport, to the Hutt Valley and everywhere in between. A great way to orient yourself when you first arrive, and get some good panorama shots. Some great nature walks lead up to this lookout, or you can bus/drive.
