We are fortunate to have such a huge selection of activities and places to see within easy reach of Bean's Retreat that your only difficulty may be making a choice!
Step back in time on a 1920s street, as the sights and sounds of bygone Tameside are brought to life.
Portland Basin Museum is housed within the restored nineteenth century Ashton Canal Warehouse in Ashton-under-Lyne, combining a lively modern interior with a peaceful
canal- side setting.
It's an exciting, family friendly museum, with something for all ages.
The Museum is open Tuesdays to Sundays 10am-4pm and entry is free.

Hartshead Pike Tower is on a hill nearby. On a clear day you can get views of Manchester, Cheshire and Snowdonia in Wales. It's accessible by road or you can take a lovely (mostly uphill) walk from Bean's Retreat.

Dovestone Reservoir lies above the village of Greenfield, on Saddleworth Moor. The reservoir is on the western edge of the Peak District National Park. It supplies drinking water to the surrounding area and is a tourist attraction, providing several walks amongst picturesque landscapes.
