Bushwalking
Just 20-minutes scenic drive from Kandos, Ganguddy-Dunns Swamp is in Wollemi National Park. The 'swamp' is in fact a pristine inland waterway surrounded by sandstone cliffs and 'pagoda' rock formations. This is a top spot for bushwalking (well-marked trails), picnicking, swimming ... and you can hire kayaks.

Sightseeing
This is a good place to start ... local knowledge and a fascinating collection of 20th-century objects, images, industrial machinery and historical records. Now a volunteer-run local museum, the building was originally a Spanish-mission style baptist church, built in 1919. The grounds include a garden featuring local native plants, and a display of industrial equipment from the former Kandos cement works. You can help to support the museum by buying one of their linen souvenir tea towels -- designed and handprinted by the Kandos Museum tea towel squad. Ask for the local history map. 22 Buchanan Street Kandos. Open Wed to Sun 10am to 4pm.
The grounds are a good place for a picnic. The museum also has a Tesla EV charger available during open hours: ask at the front desk.

Open until the end of April, then re-opens in October: Kandos Pool is superb. Good place for a family picnic. Rarely crowded. The main pool is 50m and there is a children's pool.

Our favourite friendly local cafe. Good coffee, great sausage rolls, excellent cheese and spinach pies, and a lovely place to sit. Open Thursdays to Saturdays from around 10am to 1pm (I think, best to check current hours online).

There are two local vineyards with cellar doors a short drive from Kandos and Rylstone:
