Best views of the Palouse
You can drive to the top of Steptoe Butte; it's one of the highest places in the area. From the top of it you will see for 70-90 miles in every direction. It really gives a spectacular view of this uniquely hilly area called the Palouse. This is one of the most fertile regions in the U.S. producing the most wheat per acre. This is about 45 minutes from our farm.

This is about an hour and a half away, but worth the trip. It has a nice picnic area and then miles of trails along the creek with several falls. Very scenic and beautiful!

This is one of our favorite places and is about an hour away! This big ole cedar tree is 18 feet in diameter and about 177 feet tall. It is one of many in this particular grove, and just happens to be the largest this side of the Continental Divide! It feels very prehistoric back here in this forest with giant ferns. You would think a pterodactyl might fly by!
You can find this cedar grove about 11 miles on a gravel road from Elk River, ID. While in Elk River be sure to check out the Elk River Lodge and General Store and get yerself a huckleberry soft serve ice cream cone—so refreshing! Ask them for directions to the giant cedar!

This a fun hike amongst a grove of big trees with a creek running through it. It's not far from Moscow and it's a pretty short and easy trail.

A favorite of ours for great food
Yum! One of our favorites! We love their ribeye and our kids love their hamburger. It can be a little pricey, but worth it! A fun thing to do is ask to sit at the place near the grill and watch the chef work his magic.

You will need to drive 30-40 minutes from Moscow to get here, but VERY worth your while! Keep in mind that they close at 3 pm on weekdays, 5 pm on Saturday. Great place for lunch or early dinner. Some of the best pizza around. Some of the best food around. Some of the best pie around, some of the best cheese around (made on the premises). You get the idea!

Excellent coffee roasted on site. Many yummy treats, both savory and sweet, to go along with that coffee. Cozy inside. Evenings they often have live music going.

Here's a little hole-in-the wall joint that we were very pleasantly surprised to find in Troy. We had a great breakfast, tasty, and the price was excellent, service great!

Bring layers of clothes!
The Moscow temps in spring and fall can range wildly in a given day, sometimes up to 30 degrees! So have clothing you can layer, to put off or on, whatever the whim of the weather.

Know how to say "Moscow"
We are NOT Moscow, Russia, as in Moss-COW. We locals say the name of our town like MOSS-coe. Rhymes with TOE. The Russians accent the last syllable; we Idahoans accent the first syllable!
