Restaurants that I like

They may not be top notch and some may seem expensive; however, these are some of the restaurants that are either close by to my place and may be recommended or simply ones that I like. Warning: Pay attention when reading the menu, some prices may be indicated per unit (i.e. grams) and not for the entire plate!
Bol'shaya Nikitskaya Ulitsa, 13 Conveniently located on the way from the apartment to the Kremlin. Have a cup of coffee or grab a bite to gather energy for a long excursion day or relax afterwards. In summer time the terrace is very likeable.

Interesting ambiance and decor. Food tastes smoky as well (I wonder if they use the same ovens as in Ugolek). Worth visiting.

Russian cuisine with a twist. Even though it is a bit on the expensive side I would definitely recommend visiting this restaurant for its uniqueness. You will find written help for the menu, to assist you when deciding what to choose.

This place is like a market with plenty of food stalls as well as food courts. Great variety of choices and prices are close to reasonable. There are also restaurants and coffee houses inside the complex. My first impression was a bit like being back in the nineties' Russia, mainly thanks to customers' behaviour and the abundance of expensive cars.

Places to visit

Here you will find suggestions that are not those that you may usually find or that are typical (advising to visiting the Kremlin or Red Square may be unnecessary).
Just meters from the apartment you will find this beautiful example of art nouveau architecture. Before the revolution this mansion was owned by Serguey Ryabushinskiy, a prominent industrialist, and given to Gorkiy for his use afterwards.

17th century mansion where writer Nikolai Gogol spent his last years and where he burnt the manuscript of the second part of Dead Souls. Cozy museum with amicable guides but unfortunately no English speakers. Most of the explanations are in English.

More information can be found here in English http://moscowzoo.su/ and in Russian http://moscowzoo.ru/ You can also buy the tickets online at the sites indicated above. If your visit timing allows, visit this beautiful park that is a perfect combination of nature and architecture. Additional information: https://www.russiaeguide.com/the-kolomenskoye-estate.html https://www.rbth.com/travel/328440-reasons-visit-moscow-kolomenskoye-park "...Beginning from the 15th century, Kolomenskoye served as a summer country residence for the Grand Dukes of Moscow and Russian Tsars. Due to this fact, a rich architectural heritage was formed in the area. The most significant attraction is the Ascension Church, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage monument. Another three architectural landmarks are located in the immediate vicinity of the Church: St. George the Victorious Bell Tower (16th c.), Water Tower (17th c.) and Hunting Pavilion (19th c.). In 1923, Kolomenskoye was turned into an open-air museum of Wooden Architecture. Wooden architecture monuments of the 17th – 18th centuries were brought from all across Russia and collected in Kolomenskoye. Nowadays, meadery from the village of Preobrazhenskoe, the tower of the Bratsk prison from Siberia, the gate tower of Nicholas-Karelian Monastery from the White Sea coast, the house of Peter I from Arkhangelsk are an integral part of the Kolomenskoye museum."
