Welcome! Your private loft suite is a cozy pine panelled bedroom and adjoining lounge. Good for singles, couples or small families. Here you can relax, watch Netflix and make light meals. You’ll love the lakefront neighbourhood so close to the 401 and GO trains to Toronto. It's a quick 35 minute trip to Union Station. Lots of popular restaurants and conveniences are nearby. Enjoy a nature getaway too: the Rouge Park and Waterfront Recreation Trail are minutes away. Please read below.
Driveway parking for 1 car, a front-door entry and private vaulted staircase with skylight lead upward to the self-contained suite: a cozy pine paneled bedroom* with queen bed, a lounge (with comfy sleeper sofa) , with a fireplace, WIFI, TV, cable, HDMI, Netflix, lap desk and a breakfast bar** to prepare light meals. It is equipped with a mini-fridge, kettle, coffee maker, toaster, microwaves, dishes, cutlery and glasses, stocked with breakfast foods, snacks - everything you might need. The ensuite bathroom has ample counter space and a nice hot shower. It’s great, whether you're here on business, passing through, or spending some relaxing getaway time near the lake with someone special. Bring or borrow our bikes to explore the neighbourhood and Rouge River to get the most out of your experience.
*Note: the loft ceiling is sloped so you must watch your head in certain parts of the bedroom.
** We know it’s inconvenient to wash up dishes, glasses and cutlery. So, we will wash and replace used items as needed -- like hotel room service :)
During the day, there are usually two or more friendly four-legged furries in the host's residence next door. It is generally a peaceful atmosphere, but there may be times of doggie excitement, like when the mailman rings the bell. If you love dogs as much as we do and want to meet them, let us know. If dogs aren't your cup of tea -- don't worry: Your suite is completely separate, air filtered and kept pet-free. Quiet hours are between 11:00 pm and 7:00 am.
For longer and business/school weekly stays see the private studio apartment equipped with expanded cooking facilities. https://abnb.me/EVmg/ytp0wWdIaH
Historically, this area, known also as Rosebank, was the choice nature retreat of weary city-dwellers seeking someplace cool, green and shady close to home. Today, it still is! A short walk to the lake and Rouge Beach, you will see unique homes that overlook the restored wetlands and waterfront. You may also see some of the dozens of species of birds that nest here, including the blue heron and the rare black tern.
The Rouge National Park conducts guided hikes throughout the year and there are many other seasonal activities within walking and cycling distance. See Parks Canada's and Durham Region's websites for more details.
Within walking distance is a convenience store, Tiano's - the organic green grocer, and Bruno's Gourmet Deli, a cleaner/laundry service, and drug store.
Port Restaurant is a full service restaurant within a 10 minute drive. The popular Black Dog Pub is also nearby. LaManna's Italian bakery, a short drive away, serves outstanding pizza and delicious veal on a bun. It is 15 minute drive to the Guild Park and Gardens and a 10 minute drive to the Zoo.
The Nautical Village at the foot of Liverpool Road is accessible by car and bicycle. There, you will find a variety of restaurants, pubs, cafes, and unique shops. Our proximity to Toronto, major highway and transit hubs, also makes this location ideal as a base for site seeing, business and family activities in east Toronto and day trips beyond.
