4 bedrooms (5 beds) 2 full bathrooms (office has futon and double bed). Really adorable home/neighborhood from 1940s, newly remodeled in January 2013. New kitchen, baths, luxury towels and bedding. Two separate living rooms each with a couch. Outdoor deck, screened porch, covered patio with grill. Plenty of parking for 4 cars.
Great neighborhood, inside the beltline (considered city proper). Walking distance to Meredith College, NCSU, and Whole Foods (all less than 1 mile). $10 cab ride downtown.
1939 Home, renovated Jan 2013. All new kitchen, stainless appliances (including gas stove), hardwood floors throughout, hypo-allergenic steam washer/dryer, 4- fully furnished bedrooms, 2 separate living areas (den and breakfast room both with couches), dining room table seats 8. Fine china full set (12) with dessert/tea sets available upon request for holiday travelers looking to host family dinner parties.
Yard is great for BBQ or catered gathering for graduation or football weekends. Turkey frier, grill, oyster roaster, fire pit available for use. Yard is fully landscaped, beautiful lawn/flower beds/border bushes and shade trees with hammock, swinging chair, backyard movie screen, and garden deck. Corn hole set too!
Furnishings: Downstairs bedrooms are a suite off dining room with shared bath. Both are decorated with period piece Benbow furniture (hand crafted mid century in Greensboro, NC); double beds made of solid walnut and cherry. Upstairs offers an office suite with a desk, double bed, futon. The master bedroom has a queen. There is another full bath/laundry/steam shower upstairs.
Screened in side porch with porch swing that steps down onto a patio breezeway for grilling.
Great house on weekends for parents visiting students, the big ACC games, or graduation. Home also comes with full security system including indoor motion detection while you sleep.
Neighborhood and street very quiet at night and safe. Street is a side street. No buses or through traffic. Hardly hear a car from inside unless windows are open.
Key code given out day prior to arrival. Entry into sunroom/kitchen. There is a strong porch light for late night arrival. You get full access to my home. If you forgot something bathrooms are fully stocked. Help yourself to food, spices, fridge, pantry, and any beverage items you see. I share because you always share back. Just replenish what you finish if it was full (and tip if you get into the liquor cabinet or replace). Nice grandma china is on higher shelves. Please use with care. Glasses in cupboard next to refrigerator are crystal. I really prefer guests to use everyday dishes for their everyday use on either side of sink. Handwash the fine items gently.

I live in this home but rent a room from a friend when reservation are made. This is my primary and only residence. I occasionally need to do a few chores on weekends (mostly landscaping) but I will seek permission from you first as I may need to be in and out of the basement to take care of the home. No obligation and I will certainly negotiate times and permission up front or upon arrival so as not to disturb sleep or family/friend time.
I interact with social guests or serve as a concierge happily. I will take guests out as a guide when interest or opportunity exists. Guests have accompanied me and my friends to restaurants. It's up to you!
Private more secluded guests won't see me.
I ask that you be respectful of my neighbors. It is with great social capital cultivated through years of good neighbor relations that I can offer my home to you. Please contact me should anything be disruptive and I will investigate.
Just let me know what you need. I love hosting, love Raleigh, and love meeting new people.

If you would like any specialty items during your stay feel free to send in a request. You might consider that Whole Foods and Harris Teeter both allow call in orders. I'm happy to pick up most anything if you're in a rush or wish to arrive without needing to run errands.
Things to do in Raleigh: The Independent Weekly comes out new every Wednesday and will have "best bets" for the weekend. I will grab you a copy but be sure to check it out online.
Restaurant musts: Pooles Diner, the Stanbury, Bida Manda (Laotian food) and 42nd Street Oyster Bar for a peck or mussels. If you like tequila and empanadas try Calavelas or Gonza Tacos. Places to grab a high quality cocktail: Foxes, C-Grace, and Foundation. Breweries: Crank Arm, Raleigh Brewing and Trophy ("Trophy Wife" IPA is my favorite in town), with a few others just outside of center of town that are noteworthy (Just ask).
Brunch: Capital City Club 16, Irregardless Cafe, Humble Pie
Southern Cookin': Watkins Grill, State Farmers Market Restaurant, Big Ed's Cafeteria
BBQ: The Pit
No unexpected overnight guests that are not listed in original reservation inquiry. All guests must be in reservation and names registered with me prior to arrival. If you get lucky out on the town with a stranger, meet a local you think is fun, get a hotel, we'll work out a reimbursement.
Park in driveway. Do not block sidewalk. You may park in front of house, but share with neighbors. Typically neighbors in brick house next door need all of the spaces in front of their house since they have teenagers, same goes for white house across street.
No smoking in house. Includes cigars. If you would like to smoke outside, clean ash and butts.
No illegal drugs.
Always lock doors. Always close windows when you leave house unattended.
Quiet hours start at 10:30pm. Here is where I will sound not so cool...blame badly behaved bridesmaids for the following: I have family neighbors and elderly neighbors. They are all lovely and love me. No parties outside, no arguments outside. Guests have abused this rule in the past which leaves me embarrassed when I return and get an earful from neighbors. This is my only home and it's a wonderful street full of professionals contributing great things to the city. If my neighbors complain about noise after 10:30pm outside, then I do reserve the right to show you the text, confirm they are correct, and take funds from security deposit to take them out to an expensive dinner ($150).
Former park ranger, dude ranch wrangler, and restaurant manager who is happy to host and help you plan your stay while in Raleigh. I'm a native North Carolinian who has been to every corner of the state. Hoping to raise funds to finish attic into walk in closet and put in a greenhouse in backyard. Look forward to meeting new travelers and sharing my home. I can also clear out if you need the whole house and stay with friends nearby.
