I don't believe you need to look anywhere else - I am confident, and the reviews back this up, that our quality, location, and 'at home' feeling make us the best accommodation in Sámara for your vacation! This listing is for Condo Catalina on the third floor, a modern luxury two bedroom, two bathroom condo. As the owner-manager, my philosophy is to provide a place to stay that I would be ecstatic to discover and eager to come back to as a repeat guest. My goal is to exceed your expectations by providing a world-class stay in a beautiful unique location!
I completed the construction of Alta Vista December 2008 and no one would believe the building is ten years old - I have a full-time maintenance employee, Dennis, who keeps the property freshly painted and spotless. I work diligently to maintain all the electrical appliances as well as linens and kitchen accouterments like new. Laura, my administrator, and Xinnia the housekeeper round out the team - a huge part of what makes Alta Vista #1 in Sámara! For a quick glance at our amenities, all condos have free high-speed wifi internet, air conditioning, fully stocked kitchens, secure covered parking, cable TV internet ready for Netflix etc, and a splash pool.
What do our guests say about the property? That it looks better in person than the pictures show! A great compliment, I'm not sure how to get better pictures ( I hired a professional) but I think sometimes the synergy of a beautiful condo with breathtaking views combined with a meticulously maintained building, the best location in town and a great staff focused on exceeding your expectations - adds up to guests falling in love with Alta Vista.
Location, location, location! You don't need a car to stay at this property; the majority of our guests take the short stroll two blocks down to the beach with amenities we provide such as beach chairs, beach towels, beach umbrella, cooler and boogie board. Walking to town is a gorgeous tropical 15 min walk along the beach. If you prefer to have a car there is a designated spot for you on-site in the secure, covered parking garage. Security? Best in Samara. Meet Dennis, a local of Sámara and national fúbol (soccer) hero who played for the Costa Rican National team. He essentially lives at Alta Vista cleaning and gardening during the day and watches over the building at night. Rest assured you and your loved ones are safe! He also helps with your baggage, the bbq, finding the fresh catch of the day, or helping you to learn Spanish! He is a gem!
In line with the best service in town is Laura, who will meet you at check in! What other rental condo or home has this feature? Most simply have a lock box. Not us. Laura greets you with a smile, speaking English or Spanish, and will show you the building and your condo and answer all your questions. She knows the building inside and out as well as the town of Sámara making her a priceless addition to the team. She's available throughout your stay to help out and she'll be there at your check out as well. I'm available as well via email or phone call.

What else sets us apart? Each of the condos faces the beach and ocean with floor to ceiling sliding glass doors. The sliding glass doors open to the furnished balcony where you can enjoy your morning coffee or a sunset glass of wine with the best view in town. The balcony offers what few others can offer - outdoor living with a view! The condo is not directly on the beach but second best, it looks an empty over horse pasture to the beach and ocean. The recently re-paved tranquil road in front of the building is a dead-end at the beach which equals a safe and quiet walk to the sand, as well as pleasant people watching from your balcony. The building is located on the tip of the bay of Sámara, not in the downtown area, which is why I bought this property. It is close enough to enjoy the town and far enough away not to hear town when you want peace and quiet which is one of many reasons families prefer to stay at Alta Vista.
The modern decor inside the condo allows you to fully relax. The floor to ceiling windows facing the beach and ocean is a constant reminder you are in paradise! Ocean breezes flow through the condo if you choose to keep the windows open, or air conditioners will keep you cool - one in each bedroom as well as in the living room. The fully stocked kitchen has all you need, from full-sized stainless steel appliances to in-sink garbage disposal, it is modern and lacks for nothing. There is a shared washer/dryer for all guests to use for free, I simply ask you to provide your own detergent.
For additional outdoor living, I offer all guests the use of the shared Congo Lounge, the top (fourth) floor roofed patio terrace. There are hammocks, sofa's, armchairs, and a dining set. The view from your condo balcony is excellent, and multiply that a few times and you get an exquisite view from the Congo Lounge. Not only are the views of the beach breathtaking, but the forest views behind the building are also home to iguanas, pelicans, and monkeys! The trees team with families of monkeys perusing the branches for a snack. Look closely and you'll see tiny baby monkey's riding along on their mothers back.
The splash pool immediately in front of the building, perfectly visible from your balcony, receives the glorious sun all morning and is shaded in the afternoon making it perfect for families who explore the beach and surfing in the morning and lounge by the pool in the afternoon. The pool is only 4ft deep and it has huge stairs for growing children to play on. There are patio lounge chairs as well as a dining set and BBQ for all guests to enjoy.
As if all this wasn't enough to set us apart, we offer including regular cleaning. For guests staying more than four nights we include is a light cleaning every fourth day (mid-week) where we take out the trash, change the bathroom towels, sweep and mop the condo. For reservations more than seven nights, we provide a full cleaning on the 8th day and every 8th day after that. The full cleaning includes everything provided in the light cleaning plus changing of the bed linens and kitchen cleaning. More cleaning is an option at an additional cost.
Please note my team and I work exceptionally hard to keep the Condos perfect but there are occasional problems that arise, such as with the a/c, or power outages, ants, or on very rare occasions the wifi is finicky. Just please be patient, it is Costa Rica! Let us know and we'll start right away to get the problem straightened out. This Condo, Condo Catalina, is on the third floor. It is a two bedroom, two bathroom condo approximately 1400 square feet. The master bedroom has a king bed and ensuite bathroom with views of the ocean and beach. The guest bedroom has two individual beds and views of the forest behind the building . The kitchen is white-line with first-world size and quality appliances, full-size stainless steel refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, stove with range-top, microwave with extractor fan, in-sink garbage disposal, and all the smaller appliances like blender, toaster and coffee maker.
The living room has a flat-screen TV with the local cable service and DVD player giving you access to Netflix and other online streaming services. The living room has a plush chaise-lounge sofa combo with the main sofa folding out to the floor for a queen size sofa-sleeper, and the chaise-lounge which can work as a single bed. The mattresses are orthopedics - I personally picked out and approved each mattress - and I stay in each condo from time to time as a perk of the job as well as quality control - to ensure you get a good nights rest. The king size master bedroom mattress is a feather-top.
The bathrooms are modern and minimalist. You can flush the toilet paper just like North America or Europe! I designed the building with a two-chamber septic tank (same as I have here in Colorado) which allows you to flush toilet paper but just as you're probably used to - nothing else please! In Costa Rica, the normal septic tank has just one chamber so you can't flush toilet paper. The showers and faucets have hot water. The kitchen sink has a garbage disposal but please just like at your home - nothing more than plate scraps! No fruit peels, no fish bones, no coffee grinds, please.
All my listings have instant booking so if your ready go ahead and book! All prices are in US dollars. The system won't let you book dates that are not available. The pricing software automatically gives a 10% discount for a stay over six nights, and a discount of 33% of stays longer than 27 nights - essentially one week free for every four weeks stayed. The damage deposit is only $150 which I will return to your credit card 7-14 after your incident-free check out. I have a legitimate Hotel license in Costa Rica, I pay taxes to the government, all legal establishments as such pay 13% tax. I believe in supporting the country that supports this piece of paradise!
