In the middle of nowhere and the heart of everything, Hillsdale offers scenic access to Hudson, the Berkshires, skiing, and Tanglewood.
I've worked to preserve the rustic charm and natural setting of my 1824 Dutch colonial while incorporating modern design and comfortable amenities. You can escape to the great outdoors in any direction, or from them with well-appointed shops, delicious restaurants, and bookstores and museums that rival the best of New York and Boston in style if not scale.
You'll have your own private entrance and, depending on the size of your group, the whole upstairs with three bedrooms, a bathroom, and window-lined sitting room all to yourselves, which includes a mid-century fireplace. There's easy access to the downstairs kitchen, which is shared but available and fully stocked for you to make meals and congregate.
Nearing its bicentennial, my home is among the few in Columbia County listed in the historic houses registry. The previous owner made some delightful additions, including the windowed upstairs living room with mid century fireplace, and my downstairs bedroom, making it feel warmer and newer than a 200-year-old farmhouse.
My property is just shy of an acre but spaciously shaped and protected by ancient trees on every side. There's a deck with furniture for evening glasses of rosé and stargazing, or firefly gazing in the summer.
Catamount Ski Area, Tanglewood Music Center, Norman Rockwell Museum, Hancock Shaker Village, Olana State Historic Site, Clark Art Institute, hiking, swimming, and shopping.
