I sincerely understand your frustrated comments due to the fact of having to stay in an enclosed environment for a considerable amount of time on departure day. I am terribly sorry for this unfortunate incident which caused you a lot of frustration as well as understandable anger. I hope you realize that it was an unfortunate, accidental incident with unpleasant consequences.
From my part I just need to explain-clarify to you some facts from my point of view and understanding…
A. I received a call from a Greek person that was nearby when the incident happened ,who explained to me the situation.The very moment I received this call , I stopped doing what I was doing and left from Kifisia where I had an appointment ,which is about 40(!!) km from where the apartment is, and started rushing towards Kavouri. During this trip and being on my scooter, without stopping, I phoned and asked my wife at home to do some search on the internet and find at least 4-5 telephone numbers of door opening specialists in the apartment area in case we needed them and to call them up to verify that they could actually be of assistance, quickly, in case we called them back .I arrived at the apartment ,driving almost like mad, after about 48 minutes which is extremely quick….Upon arrival, as I had some tools ,I did try to open the door myself ,unfortunately unsuccessfully.I then called the 5 numbers I had and asked for that specialist who could come as urgently as possible to the apartment and open the door. In about 15 mins he arrived , and after about 10 mins of efforts he opened the door…From the moment I was aware of the situation till the door was opened by the specialist was about 1hour and 30-45 mins. I am not saying it is not a lot of time, it is a century… ,I am just saying ,that your incident was my very first priority and did the outmost to resolve it as quickly as humanly possible. Honestly, we could have saved some more time if the specialist had come earlier without me trying to open the door myself…. Alessandro ,I had no worry whatsoever about the damage to the door ,I just asked the specialist to do the job firstly in the most efficient way then the quickest and finally in the tidiest way and this is why I called a specialist and did not just ask him to literally break the door in pieces. I , by no means accept that my only worry was myself and the door and that initially me and my wife were OK and then we…changed!!! I just need to remind you that 2 days before, when you had asked me to open the flat for you , as the keys were with your family, I did my very best, although being away from Athens, to have the door opened exactly upon your arrival and without having you to wait at all. Also the fact that we did our very best so as to have the apartment ready and prepared much earlier than initially arranged as the children had woken up so early…Are these signs of negligence and lack of care?
Sadly, I know for fact ,that if there exists an unfortunate incident at the last moment, just before departure , it can delete all previous nice experiences which I felt we did have throughout your stay…Also , the language problem can sometimes make us believe-understand some things wrongly….
B. Knowing that this was your departure day and that you all had departure flights on that very day, later in the afternoon ,I suggested to your family so as to prepare your luggage thus avoiding delays that might be creating problems with your flights. Just that….I think you misunderstood my intention when saying so…
C. About the door lock…I did indeed tell you that the door was OK as I had no such incident prior to yours and no notification from you whilst you were there. Unfortunately the lock failed , completely, whilst you were there with the resulting consequences. I am sorry once again.I hope you understand that it was not intentional….technical failures do occur, especially when we don’t want them .On the other hand, I am sorry ,but I cannot accept your comments about me being ….cool ,negligent ,selfish and unsupportive. Not my character at all…
D. I cannot comment about the term “non-luxurious” as this is a matter of personal taste to a certain extent.
E. The flat is not advertised as brand new….
F. As per your request and since you indeed had an unpleasant ….locked in time, I agree for the return of your half day’s stay…I will contact Airbnb for the refund-voucher!
