Author writes "There are plenty of family-run pensions in Sultanahmet, but few can claim the Marmara's levels of cleanliness and comfort. Manager Elif Aytekin and her family go out of their way to make guests feel welcome, offering plenty of advice and serving a delicious breakfast on the vine-covered, sea-facing roof terrace. ☺WELCOME TO STAY WITH US IN THE OLD CITY☺
Marmara Guest House is a small authentic charming guest house in Istanbul run by a Turkish family; we will be happy to see you in Istanbul.
It is located in the heart of the open air museum area of Istanbul which is located in the historic Sultanahmet area. It is only a few minutes walking distance from the most important Byzantine and Ottoman monuments of Istanbul, such as: St. Sophia (3 minutes walk), Blue Mosque (3 minutes walk), Topkapi Palace (3 minutes walk), Hippodrome (4 minutes walk), Basilica Cistern (4 minutes walk) and no more than 15 minutes from the Grand Bazaar and no more than 20 minutes from the Spice Bazaar. Furthermore, there are many cafes & restaurants serving traditional meals, shops of authentic goods, and entertainment places in the hotels district. We are surrounded with full of life but located on a very quiet and charming street.
You can enjoy our traditional Turkish breakfast which is free of charge (you will love my mum's ,Mrs. Ayse’s, homemade jams) while watching seagulls with an exciting view of the Bosphorus & Marmara Sea and Asian side on our beautiful vine-covered terrace or relax on our terrace while you are having a free coffee, after a busy day.
All of our rooms have private bathrooms, free Wi-Fi, safe boxes, air conditions/central heating systems, mini fridge, hair dryers, towel sets, soaps, shampoos and slippers. PLEASE NOTE THAT ROOM DOES NOT HAVE PRIVATE TERRACE OR BALCONY, it is a common place where you will have your breakfast or relax on our terrace while you are having a free coffee, after a busy day.
Easy to meet the other people staying in the guesthouse while you are having breakfast which is helpful to get ideas and tips about different things in the city.

I love Istanbul and I feel I am so lucky to live in this beautiful city. It is full of everything: history; Roman, Byzantium, Ottoman, great food, modernism, orientalism, old, new, nature, full of culture, surrounded by water ( Golden Horn, Bosporus, Marmara sea), seagulls, cats, dogs, Asia and Europe, architecture, churches, mosques, mosaics, insightful museums, bazaars and more...
My family moved from Isparta which is south of Turkey to Istanbul about 23 years ago and my parents opened this guesthouse. My dad was just a lorry driver but he opened a guesthouse without any English or experience. He was so brave! I was a kid but loved to grow up with tourists in our house.
Now we have this great place in a great location and great sea view with great guests from all over the world and this is just my life now.
I have graduated from Istanbul University with a degree in Business Administration and as a student discovered our beautiful nature when I had joined a climbing club at Istanbul University. Climbing then became a hobby for me.
Aside from mountain climbing, I also go canyoning, caving (there are lots of caves waiting to be discovered in Turkey), scuba diving and try to see other parts of the world.
I think growing up among tourists has given me the culture of traveling. Not only is Istanbul beautiful, our world is so beautiful and so colorful and we must see every single part of our great world before we die.
I cannot live without Istanbul!
I cannot live without traveling!
I cannot live without mountains, caves, nature, animals!
I cannot live without my family!
And I cannot live without my Marmara Guesthouse!
