The room was clean and very minimal. Just a room with ensuite bathroom and a small balcony overlooking surrounding residents and a small courtyard.
We were looking for a warm, family owned and operated experience and very much looking forward to breakfast and coffee in the family Focacceria, however we were told this was no longer available as it was low season and the restaurant was closed. That was a bit disappointing, however also understandable as they probably just endured a very busy season and were on a well deserved holiday themselves.
These rooms as well as many others in the area, are literally just set up as small accommodation size facilities for the purposes of housing tourists. It's absolutely perfect for what it is and despite us seeking a warmer, more familiar experience, we were happy here and enjoyed our stay immensely.
We made use of the balcony in the evenings. The shower room and bathroom were clean and well maintained. The co-host Valentina, was attentive and communicative, and Morella offered a turn down service and ensured we had clean towels and made up bed each night.
The area was great, though not at all intuitive or straight forward to find, with help from our hosts and the friendliest of neighbours we managed to settle in.
The room is located in the newer part of Monterosso. Very near the train station, and minutes from long sandy beaches, restaurants and cafes. Walking to old town and the local bakery became part of our morning routine and we stopped at a local family owned cafe on the way there and back again, both ways.
We would of course recommend it and would stay again.
