Built in 1880 by Dr. A.C. Shepherd, this historic cottage has served as a doctor’s office, a general store, and a boarding house. The cottage is located at marker p12 on the New River Trail. From the wrap around porch, you can listen to the rapids cascading into Claytor Lake. A boat launch is conveniently located less than 1/2 mile away offering free river access. (Please note that the river is not directly accessible from the property). It is the perfect location to play, relax, or both!

Constructed from two old tobacco barns (with fireplace), this property provides a unique experience-connecting the past & present. The cabin is surrounded by nature’s beauty and Big Reed Island river flows only feet from the front porch. Set on 32 acres, the cabin has a large porch with rocking chairs perfect to enjoy views of the river & mountains. New addition includes an outdoor shower! Large flat yard is perfect for outdoor activities beside the water. Nearby access to New River Trail. Well behaved dogs are allowed with prior approval. You must keep dog leashed during visit. You will be centrally located to local attractions within Radford, along with Radford University and Virginia Tech. The Radford Dwelling is one block from the local walking/biking trails that take you through many parts of Radford including Wildwood Park, Bisset Park and down to Radford University. The Radford Dwelling is located on a dead end street with ample parking. Enjoy outdoor seating, an upstairs living room or a downstairs family room while you are visiting.
