Step back in time to a hilltop house with views across the city through picture windows. Exposed brick and the extensive use of natural wood maintain a mid-century atmosphere, enhanced by period furnishings and gleaming softwood floors throughout. The House Manual provides information about Jack's, as we call our house. We do not host guests with accompanying pets and smoking on any part of the house and property is not acceptable. If these rules are not to your liking then please do not book. Jack's Place is an original 1960's architect designed house. A master bedroom with direct access to the bathroom (en-suite except it is the only one!). The second bedroom features jarrah flooring and exposed brick wall. The living area features a unique view across the City especially at night. Functional kitchen and laundry, air conditioning and heating. The rental terms are for the whole house but if a couple book then it is expected only one bedroom is used. On booking it is best to clarify if both bedrooms are required. If not we do not make up the second bed. Jack's Place is a free standing brick residence with its own car space. There is a walled courtyard and front lawn area/garden (yet to be fully developed ). Cate and I live behind Jack's Place and both properties share a driveway. Naturally the drive must be kept clear at all time. This 1962 house is in Golden Point, an old area in the City of Ballarat, about 125 kilometers west of Melbourne. These days the architecture of the area varies from 1860s dwellings, California bungalows, and modern high-density residences. Ballarat's main street is Sturt St. It is about a ten minute walk to the town centre and less to major supermarkets. Parking in town is charged via meter all week. On the edge of the central business district parking is free. Parking around the restaurant area of Armstrong St is difficult. My advice is to walk to dinner and Uber home. Local buses are confusing. Only a few minutes away is The Grapes Hotel, friendly and reliable. Ballarat weather can be variable. I have no control over the weather! We are perched about 375 metres above sea level, cold in Winter and hot in Summer. Summer nights tend to cool down. To keep the house warm and you comfortable, draw the blinds and turn on the heating. There are electric panel heater available in the house. Be very aware that they are not suitable for use when young children are part of the guest party. To cool the house, draw the blinds, close all windows and unnecessary doors and set the cooling for 10C below the outside temperature.

The staff quarters located behind the villa which they access from the garage without disturbing the guests. You are privileged to have Mr Sukra, the local legend, as manager (and other staff) on site daily from 8am - 4pm to cook you breakfast and clean the villa. He is also available 24/7 for emergencies (via mobile). Sukra will also help with anything you need such as currency exchange at the lowest rate; transport requirements, etc. He is multilingual. Surf and snorkel on Seminyak Beach, just 750 meters away from this quiet, upmarket location. Seminyak Village Shopping Mall is less than half the distance, while the many bars, cafes, and restaurants of Eat Street are within easy reach as well. The villa has plenty of parking for a car and several motor bikes. A short stroll up the lane to the main road (Jl Braban) that runs behind 'Eats street' (Jalan Laksamana) is an easy option to hail a blue cab. A cheaper and easy option is to download the 'Grab taxi' app and order a taxi to the villa front door. Mr Sukra, the villa manager, will happily assist with organising any transportation requirements. We have a very reliable, bubbly and trustworthy nanny available upon request.

Enter this private apartment downstairs into the warm, spacious, light filled and welcoming living area with contemporary comfortable furniture. A luxury in the central city, is the garage for off street parking for one small car. Free overnight parking off the street is available for a larger car. The mews creates a private community inside one of Christchurch's thriving hotspots; the Victoria Street Precinct complete with a number of our best restaurants. The apartment is exclusively yours for the duration of your stay We are happy to provide recomendations to make your stay more enjoyable. We understand the pleasure of finding a favourite restaurant, cafe or local sight. Please feel free to ask. The building is located in one of Christchurch's thriving hotspots, the Victoria Street Precinct, complete with various top-rated restaurants. Hagley and Victoria Parks, The Art Gallery, Museum, Town Hall and Avon River are within walking distance. The choices are many and varied depending on your desire. Certainly walking is pleasant and convenient within the central city. Driving in Christchurch is easy and parking is readily available. Perhaps hire an electric bike dropped off to your door. Taxis are plentiful and the public bus from the airport to the city passes 1 minute away. Christchurch airport is a very easy 20 minute drive from the apartment Please note that the bedrooms and main bathroom is upstairs. There is no sleeping accomodation downstairs. Netflix is available for your entertainment should you choose to stay inand of course there is free wifi. If you require accommodation for a larger group, please look at our other Luxury Clocktower Lane apartments. You may wish to consider combining apartments for your group.
