Hansel Cottage- a cosy cottage in quiet location

Hansel: a gift. This charming Victorian cottage, built around 1860 by a local merchant, offers very comfortable accommodation in a quiet, central location in Lerwick. Situated in a secluded lane, the cottage provides a snug hideaway. We provide a welcome pack of local produce, locally made toileteries and a small library of books, and a basket of wood and peat for the stove. Parking is available nearby. There is a private south-west facing garden with shed. Garden furniture and BBQ included.

Outside the patio door takes you onto a decked area which you can sit out on for your morning cuppa or evening glass of wine or to simply take in the scenery . It has the latest air to air heating and air con. We are very lucky to have a hot spot for otter sighting on our door step just a short walk down the field. The sea views and coastal walks makes this an ideal tranquil location.

There's a well equipped kitchen with a pully for drying clothes and also a good size living room. Mavine Cottage is a great base from which to explore all Shetland has to offer.

Small pets are welcome, as long as they are house trained, and you tidy up after them.

There are open views up to Lerwick Town Hall and County Buildings. It is close to all amenities and an ideal base from which to explore Shetland. My house is on a working croft or small farm. We have sheep, hens, and you may meet one of our working dogs. The area is very quiet. A safe place to relax and enjoy the local wildlife. Great walking country and stunning local scenery. Dogs are welcome by arrangement -there is a secure garden. Please note that this is a working croft, so please keep dogs under control.

Sound Lodge a Quiet Getaway with a Stunning View

The self-contained flat is situated at the North end of the main property, above the garage so please be aware that there is a staircase for easy access as it has its own entrance and hallway. You will have access to our own waterfront & jetty so if you have a kayak or small boat you're welcome to use the facility, the garage can be used for the drying area.
