Its tranquil rural location provides a relaxing getaway while being centrally based for exploring the Lake District, the Solway Coast, the border city of Carlisle, Hadrians Wall & the Scottish Borders. We offer spectacular views over the Cumbrian countryside towards Skiddaw and the Lakeland Fells from the warm comfort of this cottage.

Dog Friendly Lakeland Cottage Near Bassenthwaite

Dodd Cottage is a dog-friendly, airy barn conversion at the foot of Skiddaw & 1 mile from Bassenthwaite. It has a mezzanine double bedroom on the first floor and a twin bedded room on the ground floor. The lounge has a dining table & chairs, with two sofa's arranged around the TV. Also on the ground floor is the well-equipped kitchen and shower room with shower, washbasin & WC. Outside there is an enclosed garden with picnic bench & BBQ. Shared games room with table tennis and pool table.

The Lazy Fish, Lake District

This 18th century barn has been converted into a luxurious holiday space with a contemporary open plan design. There is a well-equipped modern kitchen, 2 bathrooms, eco friendly underfloor heating plus a central log burning stove. Linen, towels, toiletries and logs are all provided. There are 2 bedrooms with superking beds, (which can be singles) and there is a double sofabed for 2 more on the mezzanine. Outside there is a dining space with charcoal BBQ. We allow 1 dog for a flat fee of £25.

The Grainary at Highside Farm

The Grainary, renovated in 2017, is a historic Grade II listed barn that has witnessed centuries of transformation. Once a humble working barn, it evolved into a bustling grain store before being lovingly converted into a cosy king-sized bedroom. Perched between the farmyard and mountains, its position offers break-taking views over Bassenthwaite Lake, and the eastern slopes of Ullock Pike, providing an unforgettable backdrop to your stay. Breakfast can be included as an additional extra.

Saddleback Barn (sleeps 7) is an outstanding property situated in a superb position with spectacular views of the northern Lake District. Retaining many of its original features, the converted barn is furnished, decorated and equipped to a very high standard. It sleeps seven people in three en-suite rooms and has a large upstairs open plan kitchen / dining / lounge area to make the most of the views. All linen and towels (one bath and one hand towel per person) are provided.

Ideal for families, couples, walkers, cyclists, wild swimmers, for exploring the stunning Western Lake District. Cockermouth is the birthplace of William Wordsworth, you can visit his home and the National Trust shop, there are many riverside walks to be had as well as exploring Roman Papcastle.
