Cosy 1840s cottage in Chew Valley and Mendip AONB

Cosy, self-contained accommodation in a restored 1840s cottage, with an inglenook fireplace and log burner — perfect for relaxing after a day exploring the Mendip countryside. Set in the pretty Somerset village of Compton Martin, the cottage has far-reaching views across Chew Valley and Blagdon lakes, with the village pub just a stone's throw away. Wells, Bath, Bristol and Weston-super-Mare are all nearby, making Woodview a lovely base for exploring the area or simply getting away from it all.

Quirky Tin Cottage near the Mendip Hills

Our cottage is a quirky wooden framed, tin clad cottage, sitting on the banks of a stream, next to our house. Although small it feels much bigger with a fully equipped kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. It can sleep 4 people with the use of the sofa bed. It features a wood burning stove, (it also has central heating ;-)), a gorgeous mural across one wall, a veranda for sitting and watching the world go by, oh and it also has full WiFi, smart TV and sound system if this all sounds a little rustic.

Wendale Barn is a beautifully renovated, compact, detached building, the perfect place to relax on the edge of Cheddar. With private patio, decking and stunning views of the reservoir and Glastonbury Tor. Private, romantic, the ideal getaway, with double bed upstairs and sofa-bed in the living room; although it is open plan, so the shared space isn’t private. Access is via a run of steps up the hillside, some garden terraces are up to 1.1m high, without guardrails and there is a shallow pond.

Wren's Nest, studio in wildlife friendly garden

Located in a small hamlet, close to Cheddar, Wren's Nest was designed by an artist as a rural retreat in a tranquil location. The accommodation has a light, airy feel and has been thoughtfully created in a contemporary style with quirky, personal touches. It is located at the end of our wildlife friendly garden. There is a designated area with table and chairs in front of the studio. A pizza oven is available to use on request. Well behaved dogs are welcome by prior arrangement with the owner.

The Hidey Hole is a charming one bedroom cottage, accessed via a pretty central courtyard. Mead Terrace is a recently renovated terraced cottage in the heart of the popular village of Blagdon, with views over the Lake, and amazing Mendip dog walks on the doorstep. The open plan living room has a wood burner and Smart TV. Three bedrooms sleep six, with a brand new bathroom, kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine and Nespresso coffee machine, among some of the comforts to make you feel at home. We are an ideal spot for wedding guests at Coombe Lodge, which is a 5 minute walk away.

Beautiful and tranquil location set in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Access to miles of footpaths from the front door, including the West Mendip Way. Close to Cheddar Gorge, Wells and Bath, as well as many other beauty spots and attractions. A good selection of pubs and restaurants, some accessible on foot. Up to 2 dogs are welcome.

Traditional Shepherds Hut with a back to basics feel, privately situated in our quiet, walled garden, on the sunny slopes of the Mendip Hills. A stones throw from the famous Cheddar Gorge and Cliffs . Access to lovely walks and bike trails direct from your door , and yet a short stroll to pubs , cafes and restaurants. Wood stoves for those chillier nights to keep things cosy , we provide all wood/kindling . You will need to manage the stove yourself , a relatively easy task .

Rookham View Lodge is located on a smallholding on top of the Mendips overlooking Wells. Get active on the many footpaths leading from our property, gently cycle the Somerset levels or try the more challenging rides on the Mendip Hills. Active or relaxing - we guarantee you will enjoy the view from our Lodge at the end of your day.
